Of course, it’s Labor Day and my A/C decided to stop blowing cold air. A quick check and I saw the outside unit wasn’t coming on. Tried the usual things and then called A-Max. We discussed Holiday charges and they were reasonable so I placed the service call. They were here within the hour and took a thorough look. Turned out there was a fuse blown, but wanted to know why. They found a badly charred contact unit, which they replaced. Once repaired, he did a quick review of the rest of the system to be sure there wasn’t anything else and made several helpful observations and recommendations. You can’t get any better service. They were prompt, did a thorough review rather than assume they fixed things by replacing the fuse. They explained everything as they went. Once complete, everything was put back properly and the area cleaned up. Excellent experience (other than it having to occur on Labor Day).

The technician showed up earlier than expected, which was great since I had asked if they could come early. My A/C had not been cooling properly for some time, especially during cooler weather, and my suspicion was that it was low on freon. He checked the level and determined that it was pretty much empty and then gave me many choices as to what I could do. I appreciate this since usually you are just told to replace your entire unit. I decided to get it refilled and then eventually, I could plan to replace it with a newer unit since there must be a leak somewhere. After filling it up, he showed me that the readings his gauges were showing indicated that there may be an upcoming failure on the compressor. Again, he didn’t try and hard sell me to replace the unit right away, but instead to wait and see if I could get some more use out of it. I appreciated his honest approach and will definitely use them going forward to replace my unit eventually as well as for ongoing service.

They were incredibly cooperative and accommodating even when we had to ask them a couple of times to change their already set schedule for us. They were professional and knowledgeable, and did a great job when it was all finished. The thing I liked about them the most was their respect and customer appreciation that was apparent from beginning to end. Some companies become frustrated and inflexible when a job changes mid-way or the customer has some unforeseen circumstances arise that make the job more difficult, but A-Max never wavered in their courtesy and kind treatment of us… even going beyond the call of duty.
