Tips
If your air conditioning system unexpectedly stops working, there are a few things that you can check yourself before you call us to send out a service technician.
Thermostat
- Is the battery low?
- Is the thermostat set to cool?
- Is the temperature set to at least 3 degrees lower than the current temperature?
- Is the time delay activated? The majority of thermostats have a built-in time delay which prevents the system from turning on to protect the compressor. This time delay can last up to 5 minutes.
Air Handler/inside Unit
- Do you feel air blowing out of an air vent?
- Do you see ice on the coil or pipes?
- Do you hear any unusual noises?
- Is the air filter dirty?
Condensing Unit/outside Unit
- Do you see the fan running and is it blowing out warm air?
- Do you see ice on the pipes?
- Do you hear any unusual noises?
Electrical Panel
- Have you reset your main electrical panel breakers? At your electrical panel there may be separate breakers for your inside and outside unit. Also, you may have additional electrical breakers in or around your inside unit and on the wall near your outdoor unit. We recommend you reset your breakers in all scenarios.
If you have gone through this checklist and have not been able to get your system cooling, please be sure to immediately change the settings on your thermostat to the following: fan (on position) and cool (off position) and call our service line 305-479-0514 to schedule a service call.
